Gulshan Nagpal on Bharat Podcast: “Thoughts Shape Your Personality”

New Delhi: Motivational speaker and former bank manager Gulshan Nagpal appeared on Bharat Podcast, where he shared insights on success, personal struggles, social media, youth challenges and the importance of living a balanced life.

Recalling his early struggles, Nagpal said that in 1975-76, while teaching tuition, he could not even afford a tube light worth ₹70. Instead of giving up, he continued working hard and eventually built a successful career in banking before becoming a motivational speaker.

Speaking about today’s youth, Nagpal said that constant comparison with others—particularly through social media—can create unnecessary pressure. He encouraged young people to focus on hard work, discipline and positive thinking rather than searching for shortcuts.

According to Nagpal, true success rests on five important pillars: health, family, source of income, society and self. He stressed that financial achievement alone cannot define success if a person compromises their health, relationships or inner peace.

He also highlighted the importance of simple daily habits such as waking up early, meditation, walking and preparing a to-do list the night before. These practices, he said, can help people develop greater clarity and discipline.

Nagpal also urged parents to focus on giving children strong values and the right direction, rather than measuring good parenting only through expensive gadgets, toys or material comforts.

During his conversation on Bharat Podcast, Nagpal’s central message was clear: instead of comparing themselves with others, people should work on their thoughts, habits and maintaining balance between career, health, family and personal growth.
